Fairmont creates unforgettable memories in the world's most beautiful destinations, yet did not have any addresses in this region. But that was before…

Fairmont, carnival and samba: welcome to Brazil!

For its first South American address, Fairmont chose the land of the Carioca. So after 14 months' work, the Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Copacabana will come under the Fairmont banner in 2018.

This establishment is in the style of the ultra-glamorous neighboring Copacabana Beach: an address with a white sand note to it and the sound of the bossa nova wafting in the air.

400 rooms, a conference center able to accommodate 800 guests and unrestricted views over Ipanema and Sugarloaf Mountain. The Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana will be true to the very essence of the brand: a perfect mix of local culture and luxury services.

So the hotel's interior design will be the responsibility of the celebrated Brazilian architect and Central & South America Property Award-winner*: Patricia Anastassiadis. What's Patricia's vision for this new address? Wellness, comfort and a feeling of exclusivity!

The address will also offer a luxury spa including a VIP area and private booths. After your trips to every corner of sunny, sparkling Rio de Janeiro, you can offer you the exquisite wellness break.

Patrick Mendes CEO of AccorHotels South America

It is an honor to inaugurate the region's first Fairmont in Brazil. Located in one of Rio de Janeiro's prime spots, the hotel will certainly bring even more visibility to the city, attracting tourists from all over the world.

South America, a land of possibilities

The opening of the Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana will strengthen AccorHotels’ position as a key player in the luxury hotel segment in Brazil and South America.

Patrick Mendes CEO of AccorHotels South America

We want to be the first luxury player in the hotel market through the experience that goes from design to gastronomy. Rio de Janeiro is the second state with the highest number of hotels operating in the network and has great potential for business and leisure tourism.
